Anvat: Nivadak Gokhale

In 2018, the international community of short-story enthusiasts was stirred by the story Cat Person, published in The New Yorker by American writer Kristen Roupenian. The story, included in her collection You Know You Want This, sparked widespread discussion among readers around the world.

Yet, even more compelling storylines, subtle observations, and sensitive portrayals of human emotions distinguish the stories of Arvind Gokhale, a dedicated master of the short-story form. His stories, which have remained fresh and relevant even today, deserve far greater recognition. Nevertheless, the government and official literary institutions conveniently overlooked the centenary of his birth.

This book offers a unique exploration of how admirers who have never forgotten Gokhale, thanks to the stories that remain deeply etched in their hearts, came together spontaneously to celebrate his birth centenary. It includes twenty-six carefully selected stories by Gokhale and examines the enduring appeal of his literary legacy.
