About this book
Many issues concerning villages and village communities, in the name of development, seem to be turning into desolation all over again. It is the ordinary people living in villages and rural areas who bear the brunt of this devastation. Economic inequality makes this desolation even more painfully visible.
This grim reality, entangled in a culture obsessed with grand structures and their foundations—a culture of outward appearances and entrenched power—becomes increasingly disturbing when it does not even allow people to break away from their deep-rooted ties to their villages. The very reality they remain bound to begins to assume an increasingly horrifying form.
