About this book
Jayashree Kulkarni
Although all the stories in this book may be broadly described as mystery stories, each one offers a range of experiences that go far beyond mystery alone. Depending on the nature and impact of their plots, they could be described more specifically as stories of wonder, the supernatural, suspense and horror. Yet, a sense of astonishment and the unexpected is the common thread that runs strongly through every story.
Whether we are travelling through the forests of the Masai Mara in Africa, exploring an ancient fortress hidden in the dense woodlands of Scotland, or walking along a remote pathway on the outskirts of a village in India, we find ourselves wide-eyed, moving forward word by word, witnessing and experiencing one thrilling incident after another.
As we read these stories, we unknowingly begin to share the characters' problems, anxieties, emotional tensions and inner turmoil. The suspense and the extraordinary experience of being transported into an unfamiliar and unpredictable world are what make these stories truly distinctive.
