Novelist Ranganath Pathare observed that Prof. Pravin Bandekar’s novel Chaalegat offers a powerful portrayal of the anxiety experienced by Konkan’s native communities, along with the region’s social and cultural transformation. The launch event in Sawantwadi also forms an important part of Shabdalay’s literary archive.
The launch of Prof. Pravin Bandekar’s Marathi novel Chaalegat was held at Shriram Vachan Mandir in Sawantwadi. Novelist Ranganath Pathare attended as a key speaker, along with critics, writers, poets and literary enthusiasts. Sumati Lande represented Shabdalay at the programme.
Ranganath Pathare described the novel as a flexible literary form capable of representing complex social realities. He highlighted how Chaalegat captures the anxiety of Konkan’s native population, changes in traditional ways of life, displacement caused by development and the challenges faced by local communities.
The novel connects regional experience, dialect, rural life and contemporary social transformation. By exploring globalisation, political change and their impact on local culture, Pravin Bandekar brings the emotional world and struggles of Konkan’s people into the centre of Marathi fiction.
The Tarun Bharat clipping preserves an important moment associated with contemporary Marathi literature and the launch of Chaalegat. It also reflects Shabdalay’s continuing relationship with Marathi authors, regional literature and meaningful literary dialogue.
