श्रीरामपूरमधील शब्दालय प्रकाशन आणि मुंबईच्या पॉप्युलर प्रकाशनाने आयोजित केलेल्या ग्रंथप्रदर्शनाचे उद्घाटन साहित्यिक रंगनाथ पठारे यांच्या हस्ते झाले. वाचनसंस्कृती, सामाजिक जाणीव आणि साहित्यिक संवाद वृद्धिंगत करण्यासाठी ग्रंथोत्सवांची गरज असल्याचा विचार त्यांनी यावेळी मांडला.
Noted Marathi writer Ranganath Pathare inaugurated a book exhibition jointly organised by Shabdalay Prakashan, Shrirampur, and Popular Prakashan, Mumbai. He emphasised the importance of book festivals in strengthening reading culture, social awareness and meaningful literary dialogue.
श्रीरामपूर येथील शब्दालय प्रकाशन आणि मुंबईच्या पॉप्युलर प्रकाशनाच्या संयुक्त विद्यमाने महावीर कलादालनात आयोजित ग्रंथप्रदर्शनाचे उद्घाटन प्रसिद्ध साहित्यिक रंगनाथ पठारे यांच्या हस्ते करण्यात आले. या कार्यक्रमाला साहित्य, प्रकाशन आणि सांस्कृतिक क्षेत्रातील विविध मान्यवर उपस्थित होते. शब्दालयच्या सुमती लांडे यांनी कार्यक्रमाचे प्रास्ताविक केले.
उद्घाटनप्रसंगी रंगनाथ पठारे यांनी मध्यमवर्गाच्या सामाजिक आणि सांस्कृतिक सहभागाबाबत भाष्य केले. मध्यमवर्गीयांना अंतर्मुखतेतून सक्रिय करण्यासाठी अशा ग्रंथोत्सवांची आवश्यकता असल्याचा विचार त्यांनी व्यक्त केला. पुस्तके आणि साहित्यिक कार्यक्रम समाजातील वैचारिक संवाद वाढवतात आणि वाचकांना सामाजिक प्रश्नांकडे सजगपणे पाहण्यास प्रवृत्त करतात, हा संदेश या कार्यक्रमातून देण्यात आला.
ग्रंथप्रदर्शनामध्ये पॉप्युलर प्रकाशनासह विविध मराठी प्रकाशन संस्थांची पुस्तके वाचकांसाठी उपलब्ध करण्यात आली. कार्यक्रमांतर्गत काव्यवाचन आणि साहित्यिक उपक्रमांचेही आयोजन झाले. यामुळे लेखक, कवी, प्रकाशक आणि वाचक यांच्यात थेट संवाद निर्माण झाला.
लोकसत्ताच्या ८ फेब्रुवारी २००३च्या अहमदनगर आवृत्तीत प्रसिद्ध झालेले हे वृत्तकात्रण शब्दालयच्या प्रदीर्घ साहित्यिक प्रवासाचा महत्त्वपूर्ण दस्तऐवज आहे. मराठी पुस्तके वाचकांपर्यंत पोहोचवणे, वाचनसंस्कृतीला चालना देणे आणि साहित्यिक कार्यक्रमांमधून सामाजिक जाणीव निर्माण करणे या शब्दालयच्या बांधिलकीचे ते प्रतिनिधित्व करते.
A book exhibition jointly organised by Shabdalay Prakashan of Shrirampur and Popular Prakashan of Mumbai was inaugurated by noted Marathi writer Ranganath Pathare at Mahavir Art Gallery in Shrirampur. Several distinguished guests from the literary, publishing and cultural fields attended the programme. Sumati Lande of Shabdalay delivered the introductory address.
During the inauguration, Ranganath Pathare spoke about the cultural and social role of the middle class. He observed that book festivals and literary activities can encourage people to become more engaged, reflective and socially aware. Books create opportunities for informed discussion and help readers respond thoughtfully to contemporary social questions.
The exhibition featured books from Popular Prakashan and several other Marathi publishing houses. Poetry readings and associated literary activities further created a direct connection between writers, poets, publishers and readers.
Published in the Ahmednagar edition of Loksatta on 8 February 2003, this newspaper clipping documents an important milestone in Shabdalay’s literary journey.
