About this book
Although every great literary work is primarily the creation of an individual mind, it emerges from lived experience and the surrounding socio-cultural environment. While employing language as the medium of creation, the writer inevitably remains connected to society and culture.
As socio-cultural realities are portrayed through literature, the material world undergoes a transformation into an immaterial, symbolic world, which is then reorganized in a new form. Consequently, this newly created world, though not material in nature, continues to be perceived as real; despite being immaterial, it does not appear unreal.
While examining the social and cultural relationships of literature, the present work consistently demonstrates an awareness of this distinctive nature of literary art.
