About this book
The book Sai Haripath is a devotional work composed in the form of ovis by Satish Kale, who wrote it spontaneously while in a meditative state. The very mention of the word ‘Haripath’ brings Sant Dnyaneshwar Mauli to mind. Haripath is a work that conveys the essence of devotion to ordinary people in simple language through concise and meaningful verses. Like the devotional teachings of Narada and Shandilya, Haripath serves as a collection of essential principles of bhakti. It has become an integral part of the inner spiritual lives of countless devotees. Those who mock faith and devotion by dismissing them as superstition, particularly the so-called progressives, may find it difficult to appreciate the sweetness and spiritual depth of the Haripath.
Although Sai Haripath was not written by Sai Baba himself, as the Haripaths associated with Mauli, Namdev and Nivruttinath were composed by their respective saints, it is an expression in the ovi form of the essence of devotion that Satish Kale drew from Sai Baba's life, the experiences of his devotees and his own spiritual contemplation. Sai Baba himself inspired Satish Kale and bestowed upon him the authority to undertake this writing. Similarly, Vijay Hari Wadekar was entrusted with the responsibility of writing an explanation of the text.
While interpreting the Haripath, Wadekar has adopted a style that is intellectually sound, logical and easy to understand for everyone—from the thoughtful reader to the many simple and deeply devoted followers. His explanation helps devotees discover a clear path to overcome the obstacles they encounter in their spiritual journey.
The devotee of Sai says: Hold on to this one truth;
Your welfare shall be assured on this path.
These words convey a profound message of self-realisation. One who takes refuge in Shri Sainath, the embodiment of Sat-Chit-Ananda (existence, consciousness and bliss), can surely attain the victory of ‘Satish’ or ‘Hari’. Anything less would indeed be a wonder.
