About this book
A Passionate Poet of Facebook
The name Kansu Pritam is familiar to connoisseurs of Marathi poetry. For the past forty years, he has nurtured his garden of poetry with immense dedication. Despite enduring several personal and family tragedies, his poetry has never lost its vitality. On the contrary, encouraged by the constant support of those close to him, it has continued to blossom with renewed freshness.
He has consistently viewed the sorrows and adversities of his personal life against the backdrop of the contradictions and inequalities prevalent in society, maintaining a remarkably detached perspective. Perhaps this is why even his love poems subtly reflect this sense of objectivity.
In his early years, the guidance of trendsetting Marathi poets such as Gurunath Dhuri and Manohar Oak helped his poetry develop a cheerful and refreshing quality. With the passage of time, it matured while retaining its youthful spirit.
The advent of Facebook opened up a much wider platform for Kansu's imagination. Even poetry born out of moments of personal trauma and despair gradually became more mature and profound. The instant appreciation he received from readers on Facebook encouraged his imagination to soar to greater heights.
Today, he is recognised on social media as a poet who shares an excellent poem on Facebook every single day. Despite his prolific output, he has never lost his command over words or poetic composition.
