श्रीरामपूरमध्ये शब्दालयचे ‘पुस्तकांचे गाव’ साकारण्याच्या दिशेने पहिले पाऊल Shabdalaya Takes the First Step Towards a “Book Village” in Shrirampur

शब्दालय प्रकाशनच्या पुस्तकवारी पुस्तक दालनाचा शुभारंभ श्रीरामपूरमध्ये आमदार लहू कानडे यांच्या हस्ते झाला. पुस्तक प्रदर्शनाचे उद्घाटन राष्ट्रवादी काँग्रेसचे प्रदेश सरचिटणीस अविनाश आदिक यांनी केले. शब्दालयच्या संस्थापिका सुमती लांडे यांनी श्रीरामपूरमध्ये ‘पुस्तकांचे गाव’ साकारण्याची संकल्पना यावेळी मांडली.

कार्यक्रमाला नगराध्यक्षा अनुराधाताई आदिक, अतिरिक्त पोलीस अधीक्षक दीपाली काळे, ज्येष्ठ साहित्यिक नामदेवराव देशाई, मराठी साहित्यिक संतोष खेडलेकर, डॉ. प्रमोद काळे, सुमित लांडे आणि मृण्मयी लांडे यांच्यासह साहित्य, शिक्षण आणि सामाजिक क्षेत्रातील अनेक मान्यवर उपस्थित होते.

आमदार लहू कानडे यांनी शब्दालयच्या साहित्य क्षेत्रातील योगदानाचे कौतुक केले. सुमती लांडे यांनी १९८०च्या दशकात सुरू केलेल्या छोट्या प्रकाशन उपक्रमाचा आज मोठ्या वटवृक्षात विस्तार झाला असून शब्दालयने ७००पेक्षा अधिक पुस्तके प्रकाशित केली असल्याचे त्यांनी नमूद केले.

अविनाश आदिक यांनी बदलत्या काळानुसार नवे तंत्रज्ञान स्वीकारण्याची आणि नवीन आव्हानांना सामोरे जाण्याची आवश्यकता व्यक्त केली. त्यांनी पुस्तकांच्या गावात आल्याचा आनंद व्यक्त करत शब्दालय परिवाराच्या साहित्यिक कार्याचे अभिनंदन केले. दीपाली काळे यांनी महाविद्यालयीन विद्यार्थ्यांमध्ये वाचनाची आवड निर्माण करण्यासाठी पुस्तकांचा अधिक प्रचार व्हावा, असे आवाहन केले.

पुस्तकवारी दालनात शब्दालय प्रकाशनासोबत इतर प्रकाशकांची निवडक पुस्तकेही वाचकांना उपलब्ध करून देण्यात आली. प्रदर्शनामध्ये पुस्तकांवर ५० टक्क्यांपर्यंत सवलत देण्याची तसेच नियमित पुस्तक प्रदर्शने आयोजित करण्याची योजना जाहीर करण्यात आली. त्यामुळे वाचकांना विविध विषयांवरील मराठी पुस्तके एकाच ठिकाणी पाहता आणि खरेदी करता येणार होती.

कार्यक्रमात साहित्यिक संतोष खेडलेकर यांचा महाराष्ट्र राज्य साहित्य आणि संस्कृती मंडळावर नियुक्ती झाल्याबद्दल सत्कार झाला. नामदेवराव देशाई यांच्या पुस्तकाच्या दुसऱ्या आवृत्तीसह बालसाहित्य, विज्ञान, शिक्षण आणि संस्कारांशी संबंधित पुस्तकांचे प्रकाशनही करण्यात आले.

शब्दालय पुस्तकवारीचा हा उपक्रम केवळ व्यावसायिक पुस्तक दालनापुरता मर्यादित नसून लेखक, प्रकाशक आणि वाचक यांना जोडणारे साहित्यिक व्यासपीठ म्हणून पुढे आला. श्रीरामपूरमध्ये वाचनसंस्कृती वाढवणे आणि शहराला ‘पुस्तकांचे गाव’ म्हणून नवी ओळख मिळवून देणे, हा या उपक्रमाचा व्यापक उद्देश आहे.

The Shabdalaya Pustakvari book gallery was inaugurated in Shrirampur by MLA Lahu Kanade. Avinash Adik, state general secretary of the Nationalist Congress Party, opened the accompanying book exhibition. During the programme, Shabdalaya founder Sumati Lande presented the broader vision of developing Shrirampur as a “book village.”

Municipal president Anuradhatai Adik, Additional Superintendent of Police Dipali Kale, senior writer Namdevrao Desai, Marathi author Santosh Khedlekar, Dr Pramod Kale, Sumit Lande and Mrinmayi Lande were among the dignitaries and literary personalities attending the event.

MLA Lahu Kanade praised Shabdalaya’s independent contribution to Marathi publishing. He noted that the publishing initiative started by Sumati Lande during the 1980s had grown into a major literary institution with more than 700 published titles.

Avinash Adik emphasised the importance of adopting new technology and responding to changing challenges. He appreciated the literary work of the Shabdalaya family and described the experience as arriving in a village dedicated to books. Dipali Kale encouraged wider promotion of books in colleges to cultivate reading habits among young people.

The Pustakvari gallery was designed to offer readers selected books from Shabdalaya and other publishers under one roof. The organisers announced discounts of up to 50% on selected books and proposed regular exhibitions, allowing readers to discover and purchase Marathi books across different subjects.

The programme included the felicitation of author Santosh Khedlekar following his appointment to the Maharashtra State Board of Literature and Culture. A second edition of a book by Namdevrao Desai and several books related to children’s literature, science, education and values were also released.

Shabdalaya Pustakvari was envisioned as more than a commercial bookstore. By connecting readers, writers and publishers through exhibitions, book releases and literary engagement, the initiative sought to strengthen Shrirampur’s reading culture and create a distinctive identity for the city as a “book village.”
