नाशिक येथे विश्वास ग्रुप आणि जनस्थान-जागर यांच्या वतीने कवयित्री व लेखिका निर्मोही फडके यांच्या ‘असोनि मुक्त’ या कथासंग्रहाचा प्रकाशन सोहळा उत्साहात पार पडला. या पुस्तकाचे प्रकाशन १५व्या अखिल भारतीय मराठी साहित्य संमेलनाचे अध्यक्ष भरत सासणे यांच्या हस्ते करण्यात आले.
कार्यक्रमाच्या अध्यक्षस्थानी विश्वास ग्रुपचे कुटुंबप्रमुख विश्वास ठाकूर होते. यावेळी ज्येष्ठ समीक्षक डॉ. रमेश वरखेडे, ज्येष्ठ पत्रकार संध्या नरे-पवार, प्रकाश होळकर, प्रकाशिका सुमती लोंढे तसेच साहित्य आणि विविध क्षेत्रांतील अनेक मान्यवर उपस्थित होते.
कार्यक्रमातील महत्त्वाचे विचार
प्रकाशनप्रसंगी भरत सासणे यांनी मराठी कथासाहित्याच्या बदलत्या स्वरूपावर भाष्य केले. मराठी कथेचा प्रवास आत्मपरतेकडून समूहवादाकडे आणि व्यक्तिवादाकडून व्यापक सामाजिक जाणिवेकडे होत असल्याचे त्यांनी नमूद केले. निर्मोही फडके यांच्या कथांमध्ये सत्य आणि वास्तव यांच्यातील सीमारेषा प्रभावीपणे धूसर होत असून, त्यांच्या लेखनातून मराठी कथासाहित्यातील नव्या प्रवाहांचे दर्शन घडते, असेही त्यांनी सांगितले.
लेखिका निर्मोही फडके यांनी पुस्तकनिर्मितीमागील आपला प्रवास आणि लेखनाची भूमिका मांडली. कार्यक्रमात कथासंग्रहातील काही कथांचे आशय, सामाजिक संदर्भ आणि विशेषतः स्त्रियांच्या भावविश्वाचे चित्रण यावरही चर्चा झाली.
कार्यक्रमाचे सूत्रसंचालन मेधा बुरकुले यांनी केले, तर कवी संजय चौधरी यांनी उपस्थितांचे आभार मानले. या साहित्यिक सोहळ्याला विविध क्षेत्रांतील मान्यवर आणि साहित्यप्रेमी मोठ्या संख्येने उपस्थित होते.
मोजक्याच तरीही दखलपात्र अशा लेखिकांनी आपल्या स्वतंत्र अस्तित्वाचा ठसा मराठी कथेवर यशस्वीपणे उमटवला आहे. या दशकातील अशा कथालेखिकांमध्ये निर्मोही फडके यांचा नामोल्लेख करावा लागेल. त्यांच्या ‘असोनि मुक्त' या संग्रहातील कथा आपली ठसठशीत ओळख घेऊन अवतरल्या आहेत. छोट्याछोट्या किरकोळ गोष्टींसाठीही संघर्ष कराव्या लागणाऱ्या स्त्रिया, त्यांची मानसिक आंदोलने, स्त्रीपुरुष नात्यांचे कालानुरूप बदलते रूपबंध अशा काही सूत्रांभोवती या कथा फिरताना दिसतात. स्त्रियांच्या लेखनामध्ये अपवादाने आढळणारी स्त्रीपुरुष नातेसंबंधविषयक पक्व समज, धिटाई व मनोविश्लेषण या कथांच्या केंद्रस्थानी आहे. या कथांमधील स्त्रीपुरुष व्यक्तिरेखा एकमेकांवर कुरघोडी करण्याऐवजी एकमेकांच्या साहाय्याने अधिक समंजस आयुष्य जगणे पसंत करतात. विशेषतः स्त्री व्यक्तिरेखांचा कणखरपणा व स्वावलंबी जगण्याची असोशी त्यांच्या कथांना समकालातील आधुनिक स्त्रियांच्या जगण्याशी जोडून घेतात, हे या कथांचे एक प्रमुख वैशिष्ट्य म्हणता येईल. निर्मोही फडके यांचे अभिजात साहित्य-संस्कृतीचे आकलन, वर्तमान समाजाचे डोळस भान, भाषिक समज, तसेच इतिहास, पूर्वसुरींचे लेखन व मानसशास्त्रासारख्या अन्य विद्याशाखांशी आपल्या कथात्म सर्जनशील व्यवहाराला जोडून घेण्याची प्रकृती या कथांना अनोखे परिमाण मिळवून देतात. निर्मोही फडके यांच्या या सर्वच कथांमध्ये मुक्ततेची आस असलेले निवेदकाचे प्रगल्भ व समजुतदार मन जाणवत राहते. आपल्या वाट्याला आलेल्या आयुष्याला सामोरे जाताना भवतालच्या व्यक्ती वा व्यवस्थांशी अनेकदा अपरिहार्य संघर्ष करतानाही कटुता येऊ न देता समंजसपणे मुक्तीच्या दिशेने पुढे जाऊ पाहणारे हे मन आहे. या कथालेखनाचे ही एक वैशिष्ट्य म्हणून नोंदवता येईल. स्त्रीलिखित मराठी कथेच्या परंपरेमध्येही या कथांनी महत्त्वाची भर घातली आहे असे निःसंशयपणे म्हणता येईल.
‘Asoni Mukt’ by Nirmohi Phadke – A Contemporary Marathi Short-Story Collection on Women, Relationships and Freedom
The book launch of ‘Asoni Mukt’, a Marathi short-story collection by poet and writer Nirmohi Phadke, was held in Nashik on Sunday, 18 December 2022. The event was organised by Vishwas Group and Jansthan-Jagar and brought together writers, critics, journalists and literature lovers.
The book was released by Bharat Sasane, President of the 15th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan, while Vishwas Thakur, head of the Vishwas Group family, presided over the programme.
Prominent guests included senior critic Dr. Ramesh Varkhede, senior journalist Sandhya Nare-Pawar, Prakash Holkar, publisher Sumati Londhe, and several other personalities from literature and public life.
A Literary Discussion on the Changing Marathi Short Story
Speaking at the launch of ‘Asoni Mukt’, Bharat Sasane reflected on the changing nature of Marathi short-story writing. He observed that Marathi fiction has gradually moved from an inward-looking, individual-centred approach towards a wider social consciousness and collective experience.
He also noted that in Nirmohi Phadke’s stories, the boundaries between truth and reality often become deliberately blurred, creating a distinctive narrative quality. According to the discussion at the event, her writing reflects emerging trends in contemporary Marathi fiction and engages closely with changing social realities.
Nirmohi Phadke also spoke about her own creative journey, the making of the book and her approach to writing. The programme included discussion on the themes of several stories, their social context and, in particular, the emotional world of women.Women, Relationships and the Search for Freedom
The stories in ‘Asoni Mukt’ focus on women who often have to struggle even for seemingly ordinary aspects of everyday life. Their emotional conflicts, changing relationships between men and women, personal independence and the desire for a more meaningful life form important strands of the collection.
A notable feature of Nirmohi Phadke’s writing is her mature understanding of gender relationships, psychological complexity and women’s self-reliance. The women in these stories are not presented simply in opposition to men; instead, many of the characters attempt to build more thoughtful and balanced relationships through mutual understanding.
The strength and independence of the female characters connect the collection closely with the realities of modern women’s lives in contemporary Marathi society.
Phadke’s understanding of literature and culture, awareness of contemporary society, command over language and engagement with disciplines such as history and psychology add depth to the stories. Across the collection, there is a recurring desire for freedom, but that search for liberation is marked by maturity rather than bitterness.
In this sense, ‘Asoni Mukt’ makes a meaningful contribution to the tradition of women’s writing in Marathi literature.
