About this book
I have had the opportunity to observe closely all thirteen Presidents featured in Dr. Vishwas Mehendale's book. I was also fortunate enough to work with some of them. This book offered me a wealth of information about these distinguished personalities while also bringing back many cherished memories.
Through Rashtrapati, Dr. Mehendale presents a glimpse into sixty-five years of India's history. His analysis is not only engaging to read but also highly informative. In particular, the sections explaining how individuals are selected for the office of President and what their constitutional duties and responsibilities entail will prove extremely useful to students and researchers.
A reading of this book leads to the conclusion that, barring a few exceptional instances, the individuals who have held the office of President over these sixty-five years have not only upheld India's honour and dignity in their own ways but have also contributed to enhancing the nation's prestige.
