About this book
Born in captivity. Confined to a small, windowless room. The only glimpse of the outside world is a patch of sky visible through a glass tile in the roof. His only companion is his young mother, who has been abducted and kept in an unknown place. He firmly believes that the objects, trees, animals, and birds he sees on television are merely imaginary things that exist only on the screen.
But one day, the five-year-old captive suddenly discovers that the objects he uses in his everyday life also appear on television, and... his entire emotional world is turned upside down. His captive mother is shaken by this revelation and makes a firm decision: whatever it takes, they must escape from this place.
Bandivan (The Captive) is the poignant account of their confinement and the true story of their escape, narrated through the eyes of a five-year-old boy.
