About this book
Through an artistic and creative exploration of human society and the relationships woven into its complex structures, Priya Vedulkar’s perspective on life appears to become increasingly broad, understanding and transparent.
Since the established social order is built upon and sustains the philosophy of inequality, its various structures inevitably accommodate many forms of injustice. The narratives do not overlook this reality.
People shaped within a particular social system are, in many ways, products of that very system. Yet, they also possess the wisdom to preserve their individuality and maintain a distinct identity of their own. Several characters in these stories demonstrate this quality. Both in terms of their number and their significance, these characters are often women, with only a few exceptions.
Although these women do not all belong to the same social or economic class, their determination to free themselves from exploitation brings them together on a shared plane of thought.
