About this book
Sangeet Rankache Rajya is a critique of local self-government. It exposes the confusion, mismanagement, and disorder that prevail in various municipal councils. It also highlights the measures that genuine public leaders should adopt to put an end to the unsavoury activities of self-serving and greedy individuals who create such chaos for their own benefit.
Dinkar is the protagonist of the play. He is, in fact, an educated and enlightened ruler of a princely state. Before taking the reins of his state into his own hands, he secretly enters his own territory in disguise to understand the actual conditions of the people and, if possible, serve them. He undertakes a selfless movement to wrest the machinery of local self-government from the hands of selfish council members.
This play seeks to awaken people’s awareness of virtues and flaws, right and wrong, and the ability to distinguish between what is desirable and undesirable through sound judgment.
