मुंबई मराठी पत्रकार संघाच्या १९८५ मधील दिवाळी अंक स्पर्धेत शब्दालयला प्रदान करण्यात आलेले कै. रत्नाकर देसाई स्मृतिचिन्ह हे दर्जेदार मराठी प्रकाशन, संपादकीय मूल्ये आणि साहित्यसेवेचा गौरव करणारा ऐतिहासिक सन्मान आहे.

Diwali issues hold a distinctive place in Marathi literary culture. Bringing together short stories, poetry, essays, interviews, criticism and creative writing, these annual publications have supported generations of Marathi writers and enriched Maharashtra’s reading tradition.
In the 1985 Diwali Issue Competition organised by the Mumbai Marathi Patrakar Sangh, Shabdalay received the Late Ratnakar Desai Memorial Trophy. The recognition celebrated Shabdalay’s literary selection, editorial standards and commitment to producing meaningful Marathi publications for readers.
