मराठी प्रकाशन क्षेत्रातील उल्लेखनीय योगदानासाठी शब्दालय प्रकाशनच्या संचालिका आणि ज्येष्ठ साहित्यिक सुमती लांडे यांना महाराष्ट्र शासनाचा २०२० सालचा प्रतिष्ठित श्री. पु. भागवत पुरस्कार जाहीर झाला.
Sumati Lande, director of Shabdalaya Prakashan and a senior literary figure, was selected for the Maharashtra Government’s prestigious Shri Pu. Bhagwat Award 2020 for her distinguished contribution to Marathi publishing.
शब्दालय प्रकाशनच्या संचालिका आणि ज्येष्ठ साहित्यिक सुमती लांडे यांना महाराष्ट्र शासनाच्या मराठी भाषा विभागाचा २०२० सालचा प्रतिष्ठित श्री. पु. भागवत पुरस्कार जाहीर करण्यात आला. मराठी साहित्य आणि प्रकाशन व्यवसायात उल्लेखनीय काम करणाऱ्या प्रकाशन संस्थेला हा पुरस्कार प्रदान केला जातो.
पुरस्काराचे स्वरूप ₹३ लाखांचा रोख पुरस्कार, मानचिन्ह आणि मानपत्र असे आहे. मराठी प्रकाशनविश्वात मोलाचे योगदान देणारे ज्येष्ठ संपादक आणि प्रकाशक श्री. पु. भागवत यांच्या नावाने हा पुरस्कार दिला जातो. बातमीनुसार, २७ फेब्रुवारी रोजी मराठी भाषा गौरव दिनानिमित्त आयोजित कार्यक्रमात तत्कालीन मुख्यमंत्री उद्धव ठाकरे यांच्या हस्ते पुरस्कार प्रदान केला जाणार होता.
सुमती लांडे यांनी ग्रामीण भागातील श्रीरामपूरमधून शब्दालय प्रकाशनाची उभारणी केली. सुमारे तीन दशकांच्या प्रवासात शब्दालयने महाराष्ट्रातील अनेक नामवंत तसेच नवोदित लेखकांचे दर्जेदार मराठी साहित्य प्रकाशित केले. ग्रामीण परिसरातून कार्यरत राहून स्वतंत्र ओळख निर्माण करणाऱ्या शब्दालयच्या साहित्यसेवेची या पुरस्काराद्वारे राज्यस्तरावर दखल घेण्यात आली.
पुरस्कार जाहीर झाल्यानंतर श्रीरामपूर प्रेस क्लबच्या वतीने सुमती लांडे यांचा पुष्पगुच्छ देऊन सत्कार करण्यात आला. अशोक तुपे, बाळासाहेब भांड, बाळासाहेब आगे, प्रकाश कुलथे, अनिल गोंडे, राजेंद्र बोऱसे, नवनाथ कुताळ, गौरव साळुंखे यांच्यासह प्रेस क्लबचे सदस्य उपस्थित होते. सुमित लांडे, मृण्मयी लांडे आणि शाल्मली लांडे यांनीही या आनंदाच्या प्रसंगी उपस्थिती नोंदवली.
सत्काराला उत्तर देताना सुमती लांडे यांनी हा पुरस्कार केवळ एका प्रकाशन संस्थेचा नसून महाराष्ट्रातील सर्व लेखक, साहित्यिक आणि प्रकाशकांचा गौरव असल्याची भावना व्यक्त केली. त्यांच्या या भूमिकेतून शब्दालय प्रकाशनाची सामूहिक साहित्यिक बांधिलकी आणि लेखककेंद्री दृष्टिकोन अधोरेखित झाला.
श्री. पु. भागवत पुरस्कारामुळे शब्दालय प्रकाशनाच्या दीर्घ साहित्यिक प्रवासाला महत्त्वपूर्ण शासकीय मान्यता मिळाली. मराठी पुस्तकनिर्मिती, ग्रामीण साहित्यिक प्रतिभेला व्यासपीठ आणि दर्जेदार साहित्याचा प्रसार यासाठी शब्दालयने केलेल्या कार्याचा हा सन्मान आहे.
Sumati Lande of Shabdalaya Prakashan was selected for the Maharashtra Government’s prestigious Shri Pu. Bhagwat Award for 2020. The honour recognises distinguished work and long-term contribution in Marathi publishing.
The award carries ₹3 lakh, a citation and a commemorative honour. It is named after respected Marathi editor and publisher Shri Pu. Bhagwat and is administered through the Maharashtra Government’s Marathi Language Department and the Maharashtra State Board of Literature and Culture.
According to the report, the award was scheduled to be presented on 27 February during the Marathi Language Pride Day programme by then Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.
Sumati Lande established and developed Shabdalaya Prakashan from Shrirampur. Over approximately three decades, the publishing house created a strong literary identity by publishing notable as well as emerging Marathi writers. The award represented state-level recognition of Shabdalaya’s sustained work from a regional centre.
Following the announcement, members of the Shrirampur Press Club felicitated Sumati Lande with a bouquet. Ashok Tupe, Balasaheb Bhand, Balasaheb Aage, Prakash Kulthe, Anil Gonde, Rajendra Borse, Navnath Kutal and Gaurav Salunkhe were among those present. Members of the Shabdalaya family, including Sumit Lande, Mrinmayi Lande and Shalmali Lande, also attended.
Responding to the felicitation, Sumati Lande described the honour as recognition not only for one publishing house but for Maharashtra’s wider community of writers, literary professionals and publishers.
The Shri Pu. Bhagwat Award marked an important milestone in Shabdalaya Prakashan’s journey. It acknowledged the organisation’s contribution to Marathi book production, its support for writers and its efforts to make quality Marathi literature available to readers.
